Editing Memory and Retrospective Accounts

Retrospective accounts are written after the events they describe. They can combine remembered details with later understanding, and the distance between an event and its retelling matters when reading them.

The [[Main Page]] of Augwiki explicitly frames its material as recorded from August Casso's present perspective, with time between experience and writing. The biographical page also uses chapter headings and later commentary to organize experiences across many years.

== Keep chronology and interpretation distinct ==
Dates and sequence help orient a reader, while judgments about what an event meant are interpretations. A writer may clarify, revise, or qualify a recollection over time. These layers can coexist in a personal archive.

== A careful reading ==
Treat the account as evidence of the author's remembered experience, not automatic proof of every detail. Where a precise fact matters, look for dated documents or independent sources. Augwiki itself warns readers about bias and the limits of using its pages as official evidence.
