[edit | edit source]Having spent years repeating the same explanations, backstories, and warnings into the open air around their friends and loved ones with mixed results, August decided to put everything down in one place. Their logic is simple: when everything is documented in public, no one has an excuse for not knowing what is going on, how things work, or what to expect. Also, fuck you. They're an open book and therefore have nothing that can be weaponized against them. There is no shame, no mail to black. Because they've already lost everything important anyway. Nobody left that can judge them that matters, at least that would've in the first place. They, I, know what they, I, are/am. Nobody will shake my comfort with myself.
Consider this site an open ledger. Over time, it will collect historical accounts, as August recalls them. That being said; one can be biased, and in the case of any official accounts for anything legal or actually serious and important: the stories contained within this website should be taken as such. Closer to falsehood then fact; and only a fool would take anything stated on this website or associated material to be an admission of any liability, guilt, or otherwise. I.e. to cite this in any court of law, character profile/assassination social posts, or inbetween would certainly be a creative attempt at diminishing one's credibility. What do I know though I'm just the subject matter who lived it all!
Who is August?
[edit | edit source]August Casso (b. 1997, 29 years old) is an unhoused creator, grassroots activist, anti-trafficking advocate, web designer, AI prompt analyst, seasoned kitchen veteran, and dedicated substance enthusiast based in Denver, Colorado.
Over nearly three decades on this planet, August has lived several distinct lives across multiple states—sometimes operating under different names when circumstances, safety, or simple common sense called for it. (See full biography at August Casso)
On Truth, Belief, and Public Opinion
[edit | edit source]A brief note for anyone reading this with skepticism or looking to poke holes in the timeline:
- Everything documented here is recorded as it happened, at least from their current perspective which is inherently reflective and relative to the time in between then and now.
- Whether you choose to believe it is entirely up to you. Only a fool would cite this source in anything of actual substance, as it is heresay at best and melodramatic fiction relative to anything one would say under threat of perjury. August receives no grant funding, moral bonus points, or personal benefit from your agreement, and loses absolutely nothing if you decide to doubt it.
- If something here rubs you the wrong way or shatters your expectations of polite society, you are entirely free to be upset about it—preferably at a polite distance, out of earshot. Womp womp.
- August hopes to inspire emotions from what they create; including unpleasant ones.
The Denver Chapter: From Illinois to Wisconsin and Back to the Streets
[edit | edit source]A lot of people assumed August ended up on the Denver pavement directly because of his dad passing away, but that wasn't what brought him back.
August had originally left Colorado and headed back to Illinois. When his father, Bart Case, passed away, August returned for about a week to lay him to rest. Around that same time, Arenda reached out facing immediate homelessness with nowhere safe to turn. August took her in and secretly kept her housed for about a month to keep her off the street. When his mom and step-dad found out, they completely turned on him and stabbed him in the back over the situation instead of having his back.
Rather than stay around family who did him dirty, August cut ties and headed up to Wisconsin, handling whatever came his way through that whole chapter. Eventually, things in Wisconsin ran their course and ended. With that chapter closed, August headed back to Colorado.
On December 2nd, he touched down on the sidewalks of Denver with zero housing and no safety net right as winter set in. (See main article: The Denver Arrival (December 2nd))
How to Approach This Wiki
[edit | edit source]Like a memoir, or diary - but with space to elaborate on specifics on people, relationships, events, periods in depth should one wish to dive further. One of the greatest pities is that when August dies, so too does everything they have ever experienced as they have percieved it. They hope this written account can provide insight, explanation, understanding into the who, what, why they are - August Casso!
